Abstract: A coupled analysis system of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) techniques and HVAC system simulation (LCEM tool) was applied for a multi-split air-conditioning system in the operation phase in this study. In particular, the effects of (1) the difference in internal heat sources, (2) that in operational modes (cooling mode/ventilation mode) for indoor units, and (3) that in reference temperature points on the indoor environment and the energy performance of the system were investigated. The effects of energy saving by reducing the internal heat sources and introducing a forced/rotational control of indoor units were quantitatively clarified.
