C. MeyerAbstract: The thermal quality of residential buildings has reached a level, that seems to permit new concepts of room heating. But the resulting simplifications and savings are being exploited only hesitantly, due to uncertainties regarding their effects on thermal comfort. Case-to-case studies of the indoor climate to be expected are possible by applying up-to-date simulation techniques, but are rarely practiced due to economic reasons. This led to the idea of a catalogue, in which 144 variations of a standard living room with varying façade qualities and layouts, heating and ventilation systems are tested under winter conditions, and compared for their thermal comfort. The investigations were carried out using computational fluid dynamics, supplemented by especially designed inhouse software tools for a comprehensive evaluation of thermal comfort. Pages: 138 - 140
