Abstract: Functional operation patterns are proposed to be used to transfer information of operation strategies from design stage into construction, commissioning and occupancy. This paper shows how and in which stages a connection between design and operation could be established by means of operation patterns. Within the scope of the research project “OASE II” a continuous methodology is developed to realize this. The purpose is a standardized procedure providing Diagnostics). In a further step these tools can be implemented in the design stage (Operation Prognostics), where operation patterns then can be used as a templates showing idealized processes or to describe operating control specifications developed during design stage. Finally they enable a target/actual comparison for existing buildings.
