Simulation of phase change materials – Validation of the numerical model, results and recommendations

Abstract: Phase change materials (PCM) can help to reduceroom temperature during hot spells. The latent heatstorage during phase transition increases the thermalmass of the building.Building simulation tools are necessary to investigateon the PCM performance and to optimize the thermalproperties of PCM. The numerical PCM model wasvalidated against experimental results from largescale measurement in two test-rooms.
