Abstract: The capacity and the performance of ground source heat pumps and seasonal thermal storage systems with borehole heat exchangers depends on the encountered subsoil and the groundwater conditions and furthermore on the thermal properties of the grouting material used for conclusive backfilling the annular space after installing the heat exchanger pipes in the borehole. Intensive investigations are carried out at the Institute and the Laboratory of Geotechnics of TU Darmstadt with the aim of an economical optimisation of the dimensioning of ground source heat pumps and seasonal thermal storage systems.
