Numerische Simulation des thermischen Behaglichkeitsempfindens in Innenräumen

Abstract: The research group at the Chair for Computation in Engineering focuses since a few years on multi-scale and multi-level problems in the numerical simulation of indoor thermal comfort. Thereby, multi-zone approaches known from building performance simulation as well as CFD methods and human thermoregulation models are applied. The paper summarizes the current work in the field of computational steering. We are targeting at developing a tool for indoor thermal comfort simulation and assessment which is capable of performing simulations close to real time. The system consists of a parallel CFD kernel, a fast grid generator and a VR based visualization component. Utilizing high performance computing, modifications of both the geometric model and the boundary conditions are interactively possible during runtime with immediate visualization of changes in the results. We currently enhance the model by integrating a human thermoregulation model and a thermal comfort model.
