Erst bauen – dann simulieren?

Bernd Heibel

Abstract: In many – even new buildings high internal temperatures occur in summer with a long-during discomfort. Tenants ask for mechanical cooling as the only solution which is not easily arguing against by investors or landlords. Invest and maintenance cost lead to investigations by experts. For existing buildings solar protection and summer performance is more difficult to evaluate as in planning. Many experts are not capable to solve this problem. Dynamic thermal simulation (DTM) represents a tool which allows the qualified experts an integral evaluation of the status-quo and optimizing the situation. For existing building the status-quo consists of a multi-influenced and complex situation which affords a profound analysis of the concerned rooms glazing, shading and use. The experiences with evaluating the thermal performance of buildings in summer may give advice to the plannings of build ons – and ways of evaluating the results in the DTM need to be negotiated with the builder/owner and documented well.
