Ökobilanzen : Quantifizierung ökologischer Verbesserungspotenziale von Wohngebäuden in der EU-25
Cecilia Makishi Colodel, Bastian Wittstock, Matthias Fischer, Stefan Albrecht, Christian WetzelAbstract: The environmental improvement potentials of existing and new buildings can best be quantified, if the life cycle perspective is adopted. By performing a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) for a building, the environmental hotspots can be identified at life cycle phase level, construction element level and at material level. In the EU-funded project “Environmental Improvement Potentials of Residential Buildings (IMPRO-Building)”, the environmental improvement potentials for the residential housing stock in the European Union of 25 member states were evaluated. The results of the life cycle impact assessment showed clearly the predominance of the use phase in the life cycle of the building and in terms of measures, ‘new sealings’ at window frames showed advantages. In general, the study showed that LCA is an adequate and feasible tool for decision support in the identification of environmental hotspots and in the evaluation of the environmental improvement potentials in a consistent way.
