Jörg Huber, Christoph Nytsch-Geusen, Tim SchünemannAbstract: This paper describes a new approach of automatically generating thermal building models from a 3D-building description for different simulation environments in a varying accuracy. Based on an identical geometric 3D-Building Model (generated with AutodeskEcotect), two thermal building models with different accuracy were generated. One model was generated with the in Ecotect already implemented export procedure to EnergyPlus 3.0, the other with a new implemented procedure to Modelica which was developed by the chair of building services technology at UdK-Berlin. Comparing these two models, a very similar behavior with maximum temperature differences of 2 K (in the free-running case of the application example) and 12 percent difference concerning the cooling energy demand was established.
