Entwicklung eines CFD-basierten Optimierungsmodells der Wärmeabgabe von Heizkörpern

Abstract: A numerical model to estimate the potential of optimization of radiators has been developed. The complex interaction of the internal flow, the heat transport through the metal structure and the heat emission to the surrounding room is a challenge to the modeling accuracy, especially with regard to an acceptable computing time. The internal flow in the radiator and the heat transfer through the metal structure are simulated. The heat emission by radiation and convection to the room is modeled with temperature dependent heat transfer coefficients. Flow visualizations confirm the correctness of the assumption of a laminar boundary layer for the convective heat emission. The thermographic analysis shows good agreement with the simulated temperature field. With the simulation, the heat delivery is met with a singledigit range. Thus, a sufficiently accurate and at the same time sufficiently fast numerical tool is created for optimization of radiators.
