Abstract: Ambient thermal conditions have fundamental impact on human health, well-being and working performance. Due to the increasing amount of officerelated work such as in naturally ventilated buildings, the impact of moderate thermal stress to individuals becomes more and more important to be understood. Based on available empirical research, a mathematical relation has been established which, however, shows disadvantages in terms of its eligibility as building design criterion. The method of metaanalysis, which is a well-established method of psychological research, can contribute to solve this problem in terms of providing further insight into the mentioned relation. In this paper, the method of metaanalysis is introduced and its potential is shown by practical illustrations, how occupant-based data may be integrated into building simulation.
