Entwicklung eines Gestaltungswerkzeuges für architektonische Räume zur Beurteilung der Lichtwirkung

Abstract: This paper presents an approach to estimating the impact of light and space in an architectural design using a CAD tool. It aims to support and simplify the optimisation of defining architectural space by applying geometric modelling in the architectural design process. The aim of the approach presented here is to provide algorithms which not only calculate light distribution but also take into account the individual’s processing of visual stimuli. The approach has been conceived for easy application. It is integrated into the CAD platform Rhinoceros and Grasshopper. The Raytracing technique for parametric modelling is protypically implemented. The practical application is demonstrated using different combinations of NURBS free form surfaces and light openings. The results of the model are compared to the calculations of a light simulation tool.
