Kann eine Gebäudehülle mit steuerbarem U-Wert zur Reduktion des Kühlenergiebedarfs beitragen?

Abstract: Well insulated building envelopes have the drawback that – when the outdoor temperature drops below the indoor temperature – they hinder passive heat losses in buildings with high internal gains and cooling demand. This results in an increase of the cooling energy consumption. The present study investigates the energy saving potential of a building whose external walls have a switchable thermal transmittance. The investigations were performed by means of building energy simulations with parameter variation. For this, the wall model of the program used (IDA ICE) was modified to allow changing the thermophysical properties of the building envelope at simulation runtime. The results of the simulations for a typical office building show how much and under which specific condition energy can be saved by varying the transmission heat losses through the external walls.
