Calibration of building energy use models: a case study of three residential buildings in Kosovo

Abstract: Energy performance of residential buildings depends on a large and diverse number of interrelated factors. The present study outlines a detailed procedure for developing a model to estimate energy use, highlighting the importance of uncertainty and sensitivity analyses. Toward this end, three apartment buildings, located in Kosovo, were selected. Using multiple data sources, initial energy use models were created. Model outputs were evaluated via comparison with available energy use data and studied using sensitivity analyses. Consequently, the most influential input parameters were identified and adjusted to calibrate the models. Currently, we deploy these calibrated models to investigate the potential of retrofit measures.
