Abstract: The lack of consistency in available simple de- sign and simulation models for different shallow geothermal systems currently limits a neutral comparison during common design processes. This paper describes an approach for consistent modeling of different shallow geothermal closed loop systems. The current state of this approach and results are presented for the cases of bore- hole heat exchangers influenced by groundwater flow as well as plate-shaped trench collectors.
