METHODS OF TIME SERIES ANALYSIS FOR SIMULATION-BASED URBAN SCALE EVALUATIONS

Abstract: Methods of time series analysis can support evaluating building performance simulations such as urban-scale simulations. In particular, for model verification, methods of time series analysis are crucial to evaluate deviations to measurement data and identify the deviation's origins. Based on performance indicators in combination with forecast-realization diagrams, this paper evaluates the thermal simulation of a research campus. While all indicators proved the good accordance of hourly simulations and measurements, the forecast-realization diagrams together with a Chi 2-test and autocorrelation plots revealed further optimization potential in dynamic heating grid simulations and detailed consideration of occupancy and user-induced ventilation.
