OPEN-STANDARD BUILDING INFORMATION MODELLING (BIM) TO LINK SI MULATIONS WITH THE DESIGN AND OPERATION OF BUILDING AUTOMATION AND CONTROL SYSTEMS (BACS)

A. Andriamamonjy, D. Saelens, R. Klein

Abstract: The recent European standard EN 15232-1:2017 provides calculation methods to quantify the impact of Building Automation and Control Systems (BACS) on the energy performance of buildings. This paper presents a BIM-based workflow and the developed tools, enabling the use of the detailed calculation method of EN 15232-1:2017 already during the detailed design phase. Relevant information is created in the BIM environment, automatically checked and then used to generate the dynamic simulation model in Modelica. A university building with a demand controlled HVAC system and an open, modular BACS serves as case-study to validate the proposed workflow and the implemented tools.
