Abstract: During long-term monitoring, a thermal behaviour of highly insulated box-type windows up to damages of the glazing was observed, which could not be reconstructed with the conventional normative calculation methods with a separate consideration of the radiation and convection processes. With increasing improvement of the thermal insulation of the glazing, the temperature differences and thus the risk of damage increase due to the higher absorption of short-wave radiation and thus the thermal stresses in the glazing structures. With the implementation of an algorithm for the thermal simulation of transparent components, a validated tool for a temporally and spatially more detailed resolution is available for the damage and risk assessment of windows.
