Abstract: This paper discusses the calibrated simulation procedure developed for the retrofit of a large convention center building. One of the critical tasks is the development of building operating schedules based on event calendar. The model adapted adjusted- ASHRAE hourly operating schedules for event, non-event and Move-In-Move-Out (MIMO) days, and used the event calendar and actual occupancy data. This drilldown approach of replicating event calendar proved effective in model calibration. Calibration revealed that the energy model had a monthly variance of less than 8% for electricity. The calibrated model was used to evaluate an array of Energy Efficiency Measures (EEMs).
