Evaluation Of The Effect Of Batteries In District Level Smart Grid

Abstract: Installation of batteries is an effective measure for absorbing surplus electricity under a large-scale diffusion of photovoltaic generation (PV). In this study, the electricity load curve of a district is calculated with estimation of electricity consumption and electricity generated by PV at the district level by a bottom-up simulation model of residential and commercial sectors. In addition, the following two battery implementation strategies are compared: 1) installation and operation of separate batteries at individual houses and 2) installation and operation of a battery in a local energy management system that accommodates surplus electricity and capacity of batteries installed in the district.
