Wind-driven Rain Impact on Urban Microclimate: Wetting and Drying Processes in Urban Environment

Abstract: Simulation of wind-driven rain in the urban environment is complex. Current approaches often simplify the physics involved. A multiscale whole-physics framework is being developed to provide a complete WDR simulation tools and to assess which simplifications are acceptable. WDR deposition is modeled with CFD with Eulerian multiphase approach. Rain droplets impacting different surfaces is captured by analytical models. On-going work focuses on the required next steps that are droplet fate, film forming and run-off.
