Computational assessment of occupant-centric radiant cooling solutions

Abstract: This paper entails the computational assessment of a number of occupant-centric radiant cooling elements. These radiant elements are positioned close to users and can accommodate potential surface condensation. As such, they can be operated with panel surface temperatures below the dew point. The computational assessment focuses on their effects on occupants' thermal comfort. To this end, four different climatic regions are considered. The results point to both the potential of the proposed radiant cooling approach and the limitations, especially with regard to extremely hot and humid conditions.
