Modelling of transparent PV windows with Complex Fenestration Systems in TRNSYS

Abstract: A modification for implementing transparent BIPV in TRNSY S complex fenestration system for Type56 (multizone building) is presented. The optical performance is modelled with bidirectional scattering distribution function and the PV effect is introduced in the energy balance window. A parametric study is carried out to evaluate the main parameters in the transparent BIPV model, concluding the PV effect needs to be included in the window energy balance and temperature dependence of efficiency needs to be considered. The model capabilities the PV glazing impact on the heating, cooling, lighting, electric output loads are shown in an office case study.
