Selection of melting-peak temperature of phase-change materials: influence of the building parameters

Abstract: The melting-peak temperature is a key parameter for the selection of phase-change material (PCM). Its optimal value can be influenced by the building parameters but, to our knowledge, this influence has never been systematically studied for temperate climate. This study investigates therefore the influence of fourteen parameters on the melting-peak temperature of a PCM-panel, by simulating a test cell representing a typical office building. A one-at-a-time variation of the parameters and the response surface method were used. Our results show that the building parameters have a significant influence on the melting-peak temperature selection and allow to quantify their impact.
