Open and Reproducible Use Cases for Energy (ORUCE) methodology in systems design and operation: a dwelling photovoltaic self-consumption example.

Abstract: Historical energy system modelling as well as the current mainstream approaches are closed and proprietary. Yet, open energy modelling can be of particular interest in the building simulation community. This article presents the Open and Reproducible Use Cases for Energy (ORUCE) methodology, thought as a transferable workflow to make open energy modelling principles and advantages accessible. After underlining open energy modelling importance and best practices, the ORUCE methodology is presented for the first time, and applied for the energy design and operation of a dwelling photovoltaic selfconsumption system. Finally, the quantitative results of the application as well as the qualitative results of the methodology are discussed.
