Els Van de moortel, Karen Allacker, Frank De Troyer, Luc Stijnen, Erik Schoofs

Abstract: Current renovations of social housing mainly focus on quick-win solutions due to the small budget available. This however may lead to higher costs over the building life span and are hence not the most efficient measures. The long term financial effects of renovations are studied in this paper, along with their environmental impact reduction. An assessment of the impact of renovation on tenants is moreover included. As it is not feasible for social housing companies to include an in-depth study for every renovation, the developed method will be translated into a tool to support them with sustainable renovation of their housing stock.
