Parametric Simulation Of Design Measures Affecting Compliance With CIBSE TM59 Methodology For The Assessment Of Overheating Risk In Homes
Parametric Simulation Of Design Measures Affecting Compliance With CIBSE TM59 Methodology For The Assessment Of Overheating Risk In Homes
Simona Vasinton, Peter Burgon, Tom McNeilAbstract: This paper presents the results of a parametric study based on the CIBSE TM59 standard for the assessment of overheating in homes and carried out on a naturally ventilated with MVHR archetype two-bed flat located in London. The aim of the study was to produce guidelines that could be used to incorporate the necessary design features to meet TM59 before design teams engage in detailed modelling. The results show how challenging it is to pass future weather files and the necessity of integrating: night ventilation or alternatively fans, thermal mass and solar control measures, in order to achieve a pass.
