THE RETSCREEN MODEL FOR SIMULATING THE PERFORMANCE OF SOLAR AIR HEATING SYSTEMS

Stephen Carpenter, P. Eng

Abstract: Solar heating of outdoor air to meet ventilation or process air heating loads is one of the most cost effective solar applications. These systems offer high solar collection efficiencies and low construction cost. An easy-to-use screening tool, a SAH module of RETScreen, was developed to assess the feasibility of solar ventilation air heating systems. RETScreen predicts the annual energy savings, capital cost, financial performance and greenhouse gas savings of renewable energy technologies.
