BUILDING SIMULATION SOFTWARE: IMPROVING DEVELOPMENT PROCEDURES

Stephanie Mombourquette

Abstract: Without proper standards, Building Simulation Software can be rife with bugs and errors. Increasing software testing, and notably, improving procedures during the software development process itself can help to minimize error and maximize substantially the quality of the software. Therefore, software testing and verification make up a very important part of software validation; however, not to be overlooked are the procedures behind the software development. Version control, documentation (in code as well as external documents) and a good task management system become crucial to the development process, if followed consistently. These practices can improve the software's quality and reliability significantly.
