Energy and Exergy Analysis of a Solar Combisystem using Engineering Equation Solver (EES)

Abstract: This paper presents the thermodynamic analysis of a solar combisystem for a one-family residence. The system is composed of solar thermal collectors, water storage tank, ice storage tank, heat pump, radiant floor, hydraulic circulation loops with pumps and control valves. The solar combisystem is analyzed for given space heating load and domestic hot water consumption. The hourly, monthly, and annual simulation results are presented. The calculated indices of operation performance of the whole combisystem and individual component equipment, such as the coefficient of performance and exergy efficiency are presented.
