Abstract: Phase change materials (PCMs) are a thermal storage that can reduce both space conditioning loads. In locations with distinct space heating and cooling seasons, and different conditioning setpoints throughout the year, the choice of PCM becomes difficult and two PCMs may be employed. The objective of this research was to evaluate the ability of EnergyPlus to accurately model a building-integrated dual-PCM system, and develop an experimentally validated model that future modelers can utilize for detailed design and parametric studies. The model achieved agreement with the experiments within 2% for both space conditioning loads.
