Simulating the Impact on Buildings of Changing Climate - Creation and Application of Ersatz Future Weather Data Files
T. Lee, D. FerrariEnergy Partners, A Division of Energy Strategies Pty. Ltd., Manuka ACT 2603, Australia Abstract: Predicted climate change is often reported as the mean seasonal change between climate variables averaged over a given period, while thermal and other energy engineering simulations often require hourly representation of climate variables (elements). This paper describes a method of combining seasonal increments with hourly data representing the present climate. The resulting hourly data are representative of future climate estimates. These future climate estimates have then been used to simulate the effects of future climate change on the energy consumption and plant sizing of buildings. Similar simulations were also carried out to assess the future impacts on the performance of solar water heaters and building integrated photovoltaics. Pages: 253 - 260 Paper:simbuild2008_IS01-Lee
