Abstract: Electrochromic (EC) Smart windows can vary its visual and thermal properties to maintain a stable temperature or daylight level in the space (Hatton, et al. 2013). They also reduce building energy use and peak demand by impacting heating, cooling, and lighting energy consumption. Several energy simulation tools have the potential to assess the performance of EC windows. However, these tools cannot adequately assess the controls and the characteristics of the technologies. This study proposes a new simulation technique to analyze cooling and heating loads of the EC window.
